LORD PEARSON PLAYS THE ISLAM CARD.

A millionaire peer was elected leader of the UK Independence Party yesterday after putting “the growing threat of Islamism” and curbing immigration at the heart of his campaign.

Lord Pearson of Rannoch, who defected from the Conservatives two years ago, comfortably beat four rivals to assume command of the anti-European Union party.

Lord Pearson, one of two Ukip peers, has protested that the “political class” is complacent about Islamism and claimed that some of “our people” were “strangers in our own land”. The 67-year-old former insurance broker invited the right-wing Dutch politician Geert Wilders in February to screen a controversial film about radical Islam. He has called for a zero net increase in immigration, arguing that the issue was the main concern for many voters.

LIFE SENTENCE FOR HONOUR KILLING

A German-Afghan man who stabbed his teenage sister to death in a grisly “honour killing” was sentenced to life imprisonment after a court in Karlsruhe rejected his appeal on Thursday.In a crime that outraged Germany, the man, identified only as Ahmad-Sobair O. knifed his 16-year-old sister Morsal 23 times as he believed she brought dishonour to their family by wearing Western-style clothes and make-up.

The Federal Court of Justice said it was “convinced that the accused committed the crime because his sister, in his opinion, had ’stained the family’s honour’.”

The court rejected the appeal that the man was psychologically deranged and upheld the initial judgement by a lower court in Hamburg, in the north of the country.

The killer, aged 24 at the time, had said during his trial that he was “sorry from the bottom of his heart” for his actions. “That was my sister and I loved her,” he told the court, breaking down in tears.

NO TURKEY FOR GEERT WILDERS.

This is one Turkey he’d like to stuff!

The planned visit to Turkey by Dutch MPs in January will probably not take place now that Ankara has stated that MP Geert Wilders is a racist and unwelcome.

“A visit in which Wilders participates will damage the contacts between us as two countries on friendly terms,” the spokesman for Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu stated on Tuesday evening. “A fascist and racist like Wilders is not only unwelcome in Turkey, but also in many European capitals”.

The spokesman was probably referring to London, which previously refused to admit Wilders. The UK recently did allow him entry after a British court rapped the knuckles of Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s government.(Geert Wilders isn’t a racist but he’s informing Europe of the threat of militant Islam and London has now had Wilders visit them

Davutoglu’s spokesman had apparently expected a different reaction from the Lower House. The unity of action of Lower House delegations is a parliamentary tradition. Therefore, the Lower House visit will be cancelled if Turkey maintains its position.

Wilders must be admitted to Turkey and allowed to participate in all parts of the programme, including the customary meetings with government authorities, Labour (PvdA) MP Harm Waalkens, the leader of the delegation, confirmed yesterday. MUSLIM COUNCIL OF BRITAIN LEADER TO GET LIFE PEERAGE

Gordon Brown will offer a life peerage to the head of the Muslim Council of Britain, Muhammad Abdul Bari – even though government links with the organisation are officially suspended.

The news comes from an unexpected quarter – the Jewish Chronicle, which explains that ministers are keen to find a prominent Muslim to enter the House of Lords as a way of balancing the peerage given to Chief Rabbi Dr Jonathan Sacks earlier this year.Mail online

TORIES DEMAND MEGRAHI MEDICAL FILES

Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi was released on compassionate grounds

The Scottish Government is facing demands to release all records on the Lockerbie bomber, 90 days after he was freed from jail on compassionate grounds.The Tories said compassionate release was normally granted only when a prisoner was expected to live for three months or less.They called for all records on Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi’s medical condition to be made public.

Megrahi, who has terminal prostate cancer, was freed from Greenock prison on August 20 and flown home to Tripoli, Libya. He was serving life for the 1988 Pan Am jumbo bombing which claimed 270 lives, and his early release was greeted with anger by US relatives of those killed.

Announcing his decision on August 20, Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said of the criteria for compassionate early release: “There are no fixed time limits but life expectancy of less than three months may be considered an appropriate period.”

SCHOOL INSPECTOR HAS LINKS TO ISLAMIC GROUP.

The school in Haringey, and a sister school in Slough, was paid £113,000 last year by the Department for Children, Schools and Families. The schools are owned by the Shakhsiyah Foundation, run at the time of the grant by members of the extremist group Hizb ut Tahrir. The Tory leader David Cameron this week attacked the use of public money to “fund extremism”. But the Schools Secretary, Ed Balls, said the schools inspectorate, Ofsted, had “satisfied themselves that there were no problems” in the schools, accusing Mr Cameron of peddling “smears and untruths” which “divide our communities.”

 However, the first report on the Haringey school, in November 2007, said not enough was being done “to promote cultural tolerance and harmony”. In a second report in May 2008, the inspector, Michele Messaoudi, said:“satisfactory progress” had been made. An Ofsted spokesman said:

“The second inspection was specifically designed as a follow up, to ensure that the school had undertaken the improvements required as a result of our first inspection. The report reflects that such action had been taken. “Michele Messaoudi is a respected and experienced professional and we have no reason to doubt her ability in conducting this inspection.” ( emphasis mine)

The Daily Telegraph has learned that Ms Messaoudi has links with Islamic organisations and events. Last year, she was a judge for the Global Peace and Unity awards in London. The awards and the associated conference, which Ofsted said Ms Messaoudi did not attend, are organised by the Islam Channel, whose chief executive, Mohammed Ali Harrath(above) is wanted by Interpol for alleged terrorist offences. read  the TELEGRAPH

The Prime Minister has sent his best wishes to Muslims across the UK and around the world celebrating Eid ul Adha.

Gordon Brown said it was an occasion for everyone to reflect on the unique Islamic contribution to life in Britain and for Muslims to reflect on the challenges that face us. The PM said:

“I send my best wishes to all Muslims in the United Kingdom and those around the world for the occasion of Eid ul Adha, which remembers the sacrifice of Abraham.( What sacrifice was that then?) Marking the end of the Hajj, this most holy occasion commemorates our common humanity and reminds us of the importance of devotion, fairness and the equality of all human beings before God.

SCOTLAND SETS UP MUSLIM COUNCIL TO CHALLENGE ISLAMAPHOBIA.

Setting up yet another council to talk people into liking muslims, will not convince anybody, that Islam is “nice” not when they butcher non muslims abroad.

The Scottish Government has set up close links with the Muslim Council of Scotland to work towards challenging “Islamophobia” and breaking down barriers between communities. It is not clear what form this co-operation will take or how much taxpayers’ money is involved.

Terry Sanderson, President of the National Secular Society, said:

“Let us hope that the Scottish Government doesn’t run into the same problems as the English did when it threw in its lot with the Muslim Council of Britain. No sooner had Westminster provided huge amounts of public money to the MCB than suspicions began to emerge about the nature of some of the affiliated groups and their links to undesirable foreign interests and individuals.”

Mr Sanderson said the best way for the Scottish Government to proceed was not to allow religious leaders to be the sole conduit for communication with the wider communities.

“Religion shouldn’t be the only characteristic that identifies people from Asian backgrounds. Constantly referring to ‘Muslims’ as though they are of a single mind or single culture and are all terribly pious immediately alienates large numbers of people. The ‘faith leaders’ are all male, they don’t always represent the views of the people they claim to be speaking for and they stand in the way of hearing the real opinions of people in their communities. The Scottish Government, like the English one, has to find a way around that. Simply consulting with self-appointed ‘leaders’ — who are almost always religious in motivation — is not the right way to proceed”

WHAT do a gay hairdresser, an atheist taxi driver, a skin care centre manager, a glamour model and a mixed race couple have in common? They all live in Harrogate and, for three weeks this summer, agreed to discard their normal routines and live as Muslims for a TV documentary series.

Under the watchful eye of a team of Muslim mentors, the diverse group were taught to abide by Sharia law while a camera crew followed them around.
Viewers will be able to follow their fortunes in a three-part series called Make Me a Muslim, which begins on Channel Four at 8pm tomorrow.
Narinder Minhas, the show’s executive producer, said:

“The idea was to try to find a way of demystifying Islam because a lot of people don’t understand the religion at all.We wanted to come up with something that might allow ordinary people to experience it, getting people to practise it and see whether they like it or not.”
Six non-Muslims and one lapsed Muslim took part in the ambitious exercise, which was filmed in Harrogate in June.The three-week project also took the group to a retreat in the Peak District, near Sheffield, where the participants could learn more about the religion.The team of mentors was led by Imam Ajmal Masroor, who believes passionately that Britain is in a state of meltdown, with anti-social behaviour, promiscuity and alcohol corroding the moral fabric of the nation.( At least they haven’t got to the point where they they learn to cut heads off and stone people?)
In the documentary, he tells the group it is time to start a “spiritual revolution” in the UK to restore its moral backbone.
Mr Minhas said he decided to film in Harrogate because, unlike Bradford and Leeds, it has a small Muslim population.
“The Harrogate area, according to local statistics, has a population of about 150,000 people and 311 are Muslims.It’s a tiny percentage, but we found that people were hungry (I doubt they’re that desperate) to find out more about what the religion is about.Some of our team came across people who actually thought Islam was a country. What I found interesting was the fact that we had some surprising results.You will be gobsmacked to see who got a lot out of the experience and who didn’t.” (No! we won’t and that won’t soften us up to swallow the nasty medicine)
One of the participants, Haylie Winter, 33, found the lifestyle change difficult but rewarding.
Ms Winter, who owns a skincare centre, said:

“There were four mentors teaching us the ways of Islam and we had to do a number of things, like not eat any pork, not have any sex, not drink alcohol, and pray five times a day.”What I found most difficult was praying five times a day,” she said.

EUROPES IDENTITY CRISIS.

Will it mean that those already here will agree to it? will muslims agree to this? or will they play the victim card as usual?

In future an immigrant arriving in Germany and wishing to stay may have to sign an “integration contract”. That is the idea of the Integration Minister, Maria Boehmer.

The contract would set out basic German “values,” including “freedom of speech” and “equal rights for women”. The idea behind this is the club: if you join you have to accept the rules. “Anyone who wants to live here for a long time,” says the minister, “and who wants to work has to say ‘yes’ to our country”.

In different forms ideas like this are surfacing across Europe. The concern is that significant parts of European cities exist as “parallel societies”. There is not a shared identity and so there is not a common citizenship. Politicians are concerned that if communities do not relate to each other it is easy for rumour and prejudice to flourish.

Initially one of the basic tenets of multiculturbrought with them their own culture, which was respected. Increasingly, however, the mood is changing – migrants are expected to integrate and embrace a country’s basic values.

The French are currently debating national identity and emphasizing “core values”. The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, has said that all beliefs are respected in France, but “becoming French means adhering to a form of civilisation, to values, to morals”.

The French Immigration Minister, Eric Besson, said “we must reaffirm the values of national identity and of the pride in being French”. He wants the Marseillaise to be sung as often as possible and the French flag flown. A parliamentary commission is looking into banning the burka- the veil that covers everything but the eyes. The French president has already given his view that “France is a country where there is no place for the burka”. Britain too has introduced citizenship tests. Migrants have to take language and citizen classes designed to help them integrate better. ROW OVER FUNDS GIVEN TO”EXTREMIST” SCHOOL

Beware folks, there is a general election next year, this could be an attempt to win votes. Cynical old me!

A political row has broken out over claims public money was given to two schools which, the Tories say, have links to Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir. Tory leader David Cameron suggested money from an “anti-extremist fund” had been given to “extremists”.

But Schools Secretary Ed Balls accused the Conservatives of “playing politics” and making “untrue” allegations.Hizb ut-Tahrir said it did not run any school and accused Mr Cameron of “bare-faced lies”.The row began at prime minister’s questions on Wednesday when Mr Cameron accused the government of allowing the funding of extremism.He said two schools had been established by “an extremist Islamist foundation” which he said was a “front” for Hizb ut-Tahrir – a legal organisation that former PM Tony Blair had said he would ban.

Mr Cameron asked Prime Minister Gordon Brown: “How can you have an anti-extremist fund that results in a Labour local authority handing out money to extremists?”

“They have secured a total of £113,000 of government money, some of which was from the Pathfinder scheme, whose objective is meant to be preventing violent extremism.”

SWISS VOTING ON MINARETS

While France and Italy appear poised to prohibit distinctive dress by Muslim women, the burkha or chador, which has been defined by French President Nicholas Sarkozy as a “symbol of the subjugation of women,” Swiss voters will go to the polls on Sunday November 29 to decide whether to ban minarets – the from which Muslim faithful are call to prayer at mosques.

The Swiss People’s Party (SVP), which enjoys a majority in the Swiss parliament, managed to get the measure on the ballot. It would not affect current mosques, but only those that would be built in the future. Switzerland now counts at least 310,000 Mohammadens, or some 4.6 percent of the total population, and approximately 200 mosques. The Swiss Federation of Islamic Organizations has noted that only four mosques in the country have minarets and none of them feature the call of the muezzin to prayer so as not to violate Switzerland’s strict noise-control laws.

The SVP has asserted that the minarets are not actually religious in nature but political and symbolize “domination,” linking them to Islamic law or sharia – “the enemy of liberty.” The SVP has noted a speech made by the current Turkish prime minister, Tayyip Erdogan, who said in 1997 “The mosques are our barracks, their domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets, the faithful our soldiers.”

Switzerland’s national government, as well as other institutions such as the Roman Catholic hierarchy, has expressed opposition to a ban on minarets. The Conference of Catholic Bishops of Switzerland has issued a statement saying “Our rejection of the initiative is based on our Christian values and the democratic principles of our country.”

Nonetheless, Switzerland’s direct democracy allows that any national referendum can change even the country’s Constitution. The SVP won 29 percent of the vote in the most recent parliamentary elections with a campaign that some observers characterized as plainly xenophobic. It was then successful in garnering the 100 thousand signatures needed to put the referendum before the voting public. Opinion polls show that 53 percent of those polled do not favor the ban, while 34 percent are in favor and 13 percent undecided.Full story here

UK:ISLAM AWARENESS WEEK CELEBRATED

Will they be studying English ways and customs in an attempt to better integrate? I think not!

Children across the district celebrated Islam Awareness Week. Beech Hill Junior and Infant School, Halifax, hosted a series of workshops for youngsters and their parents promoting activites centred around the faith.

Canadian artist Dawud Wharnsby taught children the skills of Nashedd art, which is a cross between country and western and pop music.

TURKEY: LEADERS WELCOME GEERT WILDERS

The words “Come into my parlour said the spider to the fly” comes to mind.

The Turkish government fears a visit by Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders will have negative consequences for its relations with the Netherlands and Europe. But both secular and religious Turks say they welcome a debate with him.The spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs in Ankara wants to make one thing perfectly clear.

“The decision whether or not Geert Wilders will be allowed to enter in January and who he will talk to has yet to be made. It is up to the prime minister to publicly disclose it.”  But will explain the “philosophy of Turkish foreign policy” which is:

“We feel the ideas of Geert Wilders are racist and unacceptable. That is why no one here is eager to roll out the red carpet for him, and neither are many other European capitals. The media attention for his coming to Turkey will overshadow all other members of the delegation and jeopardise the excellent relations we have with the Netherlands. We have to draw the line somewhere.”

The statement by the foreign ministry has already enticed media attention to the visit planned for next year, although less so in Turkey than in the Netherlands. TEENS SIGN UP FOR JIHAD AT STOCKHOLM.

Having taken taxpayers money to fund their  centre, they are then taught to rise up against those who have nurtured them!

Swedish taxpayers helped fund a youth recreation centre in the north Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby which served as a recruiting station for the Somalia based Islamist group al-shabaab
More than ten young people from the predominantly immigrant neighbourhood who spoke with Sveriges Radio (SR), said that the recruitment drive was led by a youth leader at the Kreativitetshuset recreation centre.

The recreation centre was started by a mosque and received a total of 480,000 kronor ($70,400) from the Stockholm city sports and recreation administration over four years before closing down in 2008.

“It’s horrible. There was no suggestion of this when we had contact with the association when it was created,” Per Johansson, head of the city’s department for clubs and associations, told SR. “Their paperwork was in order when they submitted it. And during the visits we made to the facility during the first year we didn’t see anything to indicate something like this.”

The head recruiter, said to be in his thirties, showed young people video clips from You Tube which encouraged viewers to sacrifice themselves for their beliefs.

“I saw how they showed images of war victims, decapitated heads, and all sorts of horrible things while repeating the same message the whole time. It had a big impact on those who weren’t strong enough to stand up to it,” one young person who resisted the youth leaders urges to join al-Shabaab, told SR.

According to Swedish security service Säpo, al-Shabaab successfully recruited around 20 young people from Sweden, some of whom who have been killed in battle.

THIS ISN’T THE BRITAIN WE FOUGHT FOR.

I sing no song for the once-proud country that spawned me. . . . .and I wonder why I ever tried.’

Sarah Robinson was just a teenager when World War II broke out.
She endured the Blitz, watching for fires during Luftwaffe air raids armed with a bucket of sand.
Often she would walk ten miles home from work in the blackout, with bombs falling around her.As soon as she turned 18, she joined the Royal Navy to do her bit for the war effort. Some WWII soldiers, and families of those lost in the war, have complained society today shows no sign of the effort they made to help
Hers was a small part in a huge, history-making enterprise, and her contribution epitomises her generation’s sense of service and sacrifice.
Nearly 400,000 Britons died. Millions more were scarred by the experience, physically and mentally.But was it worth it? Her answer – and the answer of many of her contemporaries, now in their 80s and 90s – is a resounding No!
They despise what has become of the Britain they once fought to save. It’s not our country any more, they say, in sorrow and anger. Sarah harks back to the days when ‘people kept the laws and were polite and courteous. We didn’t have much money, but we were contented and happy.
‘People whistled and sang. There was still the United Kingdom, our country, which we had fought for, our freedom, democracy. But where is it now?!’
The feelings of Sarah and others from this most selfless generation about the modern world have been recorded by a Tyneside writer, 33-year-old Nicholas Pringle.
Curious about his grandmother’s generation and what they did in the war, he decided three years ago to send letters to local newspapers across the country asking for those who lived through the war to write to him with their experiences.
He rounded off his request with this question: ‘Are you happy with how your country has turned out? What do you think your fallen comrades would have made of life in 21st-century Britain?’
What is extraordinary about the 150 replies he received, which he has now published as a book, is their vehement insistence that those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war would now be turning in their graves.
There is the occasional bright spot – one veteran describes Britain as ’still the best country in the world’ – but the overall tone is one of profound disillusionment.
‘I sing no song for the once-proud country that spawned me,’ wrote a sailor who fought the Japanese in the Far East, ‘and I wonder why I ever tried.’
‘My patriotism has gone out of the window,’ said another ex-serviceman.
In the Mail this week, Gordon Brown wrote about ‘our debt of dignity to the war generation’.
But the truth that emerges from these letters is that the survivors of that war generation have nothing but contempt for his government.
They feel, in a word that leaps out time and time again, ‘betrayed’.
New Labour, said one ex-commando who took part in the disastrous Dieppe raid in which 4,000 men were lost, was ‘more of a shambles than some of the actions I was in during the war, and that’s saying something!’
He added: ‘Those comrades of mine who never made it back would be appalled if they could see the world as it is today.
‘They would wonder what happened to the Brave New World they fought so damned hard for.’
Nor can David Cameron take any comfort from the elderly.
His ‘hug a hoodie’ advice was scorned by a generation of brave men and women now too scared, they say, to leave their homes at night.
Immigration tops the list of complaints.
‘People come here, get everything they ask, for free, laughing at our expense,’ was a typical observation.
‘We old people struggle on pensions, not knowing how to make ends meet. If I had my time again, would we fight as before? Need you ask?’
Many writers are bewildered and overwhelmed by a multicultural Britain that, they say bitterly, they were never consulted about nor feel comfortable with.
‘Our country has been given away to foreigners while we, the generation who fought for freedom, are having to sell our homes for care and are being refused medical services because incomers come first.’
Her words may be offensive to many – and rightly so – but Sarah Robinson defiantly states: ‘We are affronted by the appearance of Muslim and Sikh costumes on our streets.’
But then political correctness is another thing they take strong issue with, along with politicians generally – ‘liars, incompetents and self-aggrandising charlatans’ (with the revealing exception of Enoch Powell).
The loss of British sovereignty to the European Union caused almost as much distress. ‘Nearly all veterans want Britain to leave the EU,’ wrote one. . . .Full story at MAIL

KFC GOES HALAL IN BROOKLYN.

It’s finger licking good!

Halal KFC is the bomb! …for New Yorkers there is a new option for deep fried (and now grilled!) chicken from a popular and familiar fast food chain. Within the last 2 weeks, a new Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has opened up in Brooklyn, NY which offers the taste of halal chicken on its menu.

The KFC located at 208 Macguiness BLvd is the first restaurant in the franchise to offer halal meat on its menu in the New York area. The establishment is located a few blocks away from the G line’s Greenpoint Ave stop and if you’re traveling by car, it’s only a few minutes off of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway or the Long Island Expressway with ample parking spots available.

The halal meat is being supplied by a slaughter house in Georgia which is Muslim owned and is an approved vendor for KFC. Employees have said that foot traffic has been very heavy since they’ve opened and guests have traveled from as far as Connecticut to experience the taste of a halal KFC. For those of you living in Manhattan, you will be pleased to hear that there are plans to start construction on a new halal KFC in New York City next week.
